Zenfone 9, like 8 years ago, is a rare Android phone that prioritizes compact size rather than maximizing the screen or battery size. Stay in my heart! But this year’s new story is a mobile camera and a stabilization system: rather than just moving a single lens element to compensate for the camera shakes, all main cameras – lenses, sensors, all – move. This is a unique approach to fighting some of the biggest enemies of cellular photography: low video recording and shaky.
Zenfone 9 is small but mighty and continues the 8 tradition including high -level specifications in a concise cellphone. The screen is an OLED 1080p 5.9 inch with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and this phone uses the latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1-Qualcomm chipset. The basic model includes 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and this phone is certified IP68.
There is a 4,300mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging and adapters included in the box, but wireless charging is not supported. The back panel of the cellphone is a textured composite plastic, even though the frame is sturdy, and the front panel is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. And there is a headphone jack! How wise.
There are only two rear cameras on the rear panel of Zenfone 9, which is good -good: there is no macro sensor or excessive depth here. The 50 megapixel main camera sensor and f/1.9 lens are the star of the show with what ASUS is called the Stabilizer OIS/EIS EIS Hybrid Hybrid 6-Sumbum. Below, there is a 12 megapixel ultrawide that performs a dual task as a macro camera, plus a 12 megapixel selfie camera in front.
Including this type of stabilization requires rethinking about how the camera unit is connected to the processor. The cable that connects the two must be shorter and regulated in the form of-S than the folded configuration. The ribbon itself is softer, too, to apply fewer inertia to the camera module. It is all stored in the phone not visible, of course, but the results are seen on the surface: With a camera in video mode, you can really see the entire camera packet moving under a fixed and large outer lens element. Seriously, it’s wild.
Zenfone 9 will be sold unlocked in the US, but the price is still TBD; In Europe, the price is € 799, which is about … $ 800 USD (sorry about your currency, European friends). This will be available first in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the European section.
DJI’s latest ultra-light and portable drones come with several deficiencies but one big increase. The newly announced DJI Mini 3 Pro drastically improved image quality, but with an initial price of $ 759 (with remote controller), it is no longer easy to recommend for everyone.
